Das erste große Ereignis diesen Jahres, das schon lange in meinem Kalender eingetragen war, hat gestern statt gefunden. Die Premiere von Berliner Luft – It’s in the Air! A Cabaret Play. Wer sich ein wenig in der Berliner Burlesque Szene umtut, der kennt die Namen der Performer: Champagne Sparkles, Ferkel Johnson, Little Miss Piss, Syren Joey und – Cupcake Queen und Inhaberin vom Lissabonbon Vintage Cafe – Lucky Lu.
Sie präsentierten eine Zeitreise durch die Geschichte des (frivolen) Entertainments. Von Vaudeville über Moulin Rouge bis Claire Waldoff, Berliner Strassenstrich und Metropolis. Die wunderbare und liebevoll inszenierte Show macht wieder bewußt welcher Kulturverlust Deutschland und besonders Berlin durch das Hitler Regime erfahren hat. Es ist schön zu sehen, dass so viele kreative Menschen aus aller Welt nach Berlin kommen und die verlorenen Koffer der kulturellen Szene wieder zurück bringen.
The first huge event this year – I was looking for it for weeks – took place yesterday evening at Ballhaus Berlin. The Premiere of Berliner Luft – It’s in the Air! A Cabaret Play. All performer are well-known in the Berliner Burlesque Scene: Champagne Sparkles, Ferkel Johnson, Little Miss Piss, Syren Joey and- Cupcake Queen and owner of Lissabonbon Vintage Cafe – Lucky Lu.
They presented their audience an amazing time travel through the history of (flippant) show business. From Vaudeville to Moulin Rouge and its famous Can-Can to Claire Waldoffs Berlin during the Weimar Era. The fantastic show demonstrate the great loss of creativity and famous artists during the Third Reich. What a bereavement for German culture. But thanks to all the creative people from all over the world, who recreate Berlin as the capital of Everything-is-possible. They bring back the luggage of the lost artist scene.
