After a short and desperate note on facebook, saying that my cell is not working anoymore, my gorgeous and marvelous friend from Hamburg made me a prompt gift for Christmas and my upcoming birthday: A Nokia Lumia 630.
To protect my new little treasure I created a flapper inspired bag: The Ziska Bag. Named after my beloved friend.
Passend zur 70sten Boheme Sauvage im Grünen Salon entschied ich mich, mal keine Tasche zu gestalten, sondern mir ein Kleid für den Abend zu schneidern. Mein erstes überhaupt. Ich war ziemlich nervös, weil ich mir nicht sicher war, ob ich mich nicht überforderte. Im Ohr hatte ich immer noch die Stimme meiner Nählehrerin aus Studientagen: SIE WERDEN NIE NÄHEN KÖNNEN! Aber ich hatte mir ja geschworen, alte Geister aus vergangenen Tagen nicht mehr zu gehorchen und so traute ich mich doch an das Projekt. Den passenden Schnitt fand ich schließlich bei Burda.
Das Kleid zu nähen war nicht wirklich ein Problem und so war ich in weniger als 2 Tagen fertig damit. Originale Details wir Brosche (Dress Code Vintage Market), Handtasche (Original von der Oma meiner Freundin) oder den Schal aus Crêpe Georgette vom Vintage Dealer meines Vertrauens machten das Outfit perfekt!
Ich hab mich total wohlgefühlt, es hat perfekt gesessen und es war wirklich ein ganz anderes Gefühl etwas zu tragen, was man selbst hergestellt hat. Besonders, wenn man nach dem Kleid und dessen Herkunft gefragt wird.
I had some tickets for the 70s Boheme Sauvage at the Green Salon and for that reason I wanted to make myself a dress. I was a little nervous and had still the voice of my teacher in my ears: YOU WILL NEVER BE GOOD AT SEWING!
But I promised myself to never listend again to the old voices in my head and start with the dress. I found the perfect pattern at Burda.
It did not took me to long time to sew the dress and I was very very proud. Original details like the brooch, purse and crêpe georgette scarf made the outfit perfect! I am really happy that I decided to create my own gown. It fitted so brilliant and it was a totally different feeling to wear something what I made myself. Esspecially, when people asked about the dress.

Another Good-Bye Present…
Das Lieblingsleihkind wird nächstes Wochenende eingeschult – unglaublich aber wahr – dabei ist die doch noch so klein. Zum Schulanfang brauchen die kleinen Leute viele, viele Sachen. Unter anderem eine Schürze zum Malen und Basteln.
Auftrag vom Lieblingsleihkind: bloß nicht süß, sondern cool muß die sein! Und Tante Bina macht cool – hoffentlich!
My favourite (borrowed) niece will be a school kid soon. For her first day of school she needs a lot of new stuff. Among others an apron for hand crafts and arts.
Order from (borrowed) niece: it has to be cool, not sweet or pretty. And auntie Bina is doing cool – hopefully!
Meine liebste Freundin Danielle van Arnhem zieht morgen zu ihrem Freund an die Ostsee, daher in nächtlicher Aktion entstanden gibt es als Abschiedsgeschenk einen maritimen Rive Gauche Bag mit Accessoires wie Brosche und Schlüsselanhänger für das neue Heim.

Neues Projekt…new Project…
Im Februar war ich gemeinsam mit meiner Mama Stoffe kaufen, nachdem ich mir selbst zum Geburtstag eine Nähmaschine geschenkt hatte. Und das obwohl ich mir damals nach meinem Studium an der AMD Hamburg geschworen habe nie wieder eine Nähmaschine anzufassen. Da sieht man, wie sehr es Dozenten einen doch manche Sachen vermiesen können.
Nichts desto trotz, I am back on the track und versuche mich erstmal an Taschen, bevor ich mich an Klamotten traue (mehr Stoff liegt schon bereit). Doch da Nähen nicht so ein social-Ding ist wie Stricken – das man ja immer und überall tun kann – musste Mama doch ziemlich lang auf ihre Tasche warten.
In february I bought together with my mom some fabrics to create a handbag for her. For my birthday I gave myself a sewing machine. But after my studies at a fashion academie in Hamburg I have sworn to myself to never touch one once again – you see how I louse sewing to my tutor.
After ten years I finally got over it and first I try to do my best in bags and soon I will go on with dresses. But sewing is not a real social thing like knitting – which you can do everywhere and everytime – my mom had to wait really long for her bag.
Nähen mit Katzen und besonders mit Emil ist nicht so einfach…sewing with my cat Emil is always an adventure…
Den Stoff hat meine Mama ausgesucht, den Babycord in Petrol hab ich noch dazugefügt – passt perfect! My mom chosed the retro fabric and I picked the corduroy – perfect match!
Nun hoffen wir, dass die Tasche Mama auch gefällt. Hope my mom will like it!

I did it again…more tomorrow…
Solang ich mich erinnern kann, habe ich noch nie gern gebastelt. Das lag nicht daran, dass ich es nicht mochte etwas zu erschaffen. Es lag ehr daran, dass ich nie damit zufrieden war, was ich machte, was ich selbst kreiirte. Ich bin und bleibe mein stärkster Kritiker, auch wenn ich nun so langsam gelernt habe, nicht alles zu glauben, was ich denke und nicht alles sofort hinzuschmeißen. Deshalb hier (mit großer Überwindung) mein erstes DIY-Projekt: ein Fascinator.
Ich liebe und trage gern diese kleinen Hütchen, auch wenn man damit sogar in Berlin den einen oder anderen (bewundernden) Blick erntet. Oft gefallen mir aber diese und jene Details an den zu erwerbenden Objekten nicht, oder ich kann sie mir einfach nicht leisten…daher wollte ich endlich einmal meiner Kreativität wieder freien Lauf lassen.
Der Prototyp – noch nicht perfekt, aber ich arbeite dran! Und ich bin echt schlecht in Produktfotografie!
As long as I remember I never was so attached to handicraft works. Not because I do not like to create stuff, but I am a very self-critical person and I usually stopped doing thing, when it was not 100% perfect. Right now I am learning to handle with it and to keep on practising and do not quit thing I – in general – love to do.
So here we go – mylittle DIY project: My very first Fascinator. Not perfect at all even the pictures, but it is okay for the first one (I guess)! Enjoy and I hope many to follow…
